Bekannt wurden sie durch ihren Auftritt am 5.November beim Reutlinger Tanz-Beat-Fesival 65, bei dem sie als beste Nachwuchsband im Reutlinger Raum gewählt wurde. Die 5 Musiker im Teenageralter spielten vor allem in ihrem Stammlokal „Uhlandhöhe“ in Reutlingen.
Als Vorgruppe waren sie z.B. mit bekannten deutschen Rockgruppen wie „The Rattles, The Lords, The German Bonds, The Four Renders“ von 1966 – 1967 unterwegs. Der Wehrdienst war der Hauptgrund, weshalb sich die Gruppe auflöste. Im Herbst 1998 gab es wieder eine Reunion. Die Ur-Crashers Reinhold Schindler (Sologitarre), Peter Pfanner (Rhythmusgitarre) und Manfred Körner (Bass) spielten mit dem Schlagzeuger Felix Bach am 1.Juli 2000 mit „Just for fun“ beim Open-Air-Konzert zum ersten Mal wieder öffentlich im Entenhof in Pliezhausen.
Wenig später ersetzte Jürgen Renner Felix Bach am Schlagzeug. Im November 2003 (nach einem Revival-Konzert im früheren Stammlokal „Uhlandhöhe“) schloss sich Jochen Warth als Bluesharper der Gruppe an und ab April 2009 wurde die Band verstärkt durch Ausnahmetalent Sascha Kommer am Piano.
In der aktuellen Besetzung gibt's seit April 2012 Unterstützung durch Stargitarrist und Musiklehrer Frank J. Benz.
The Crashers spielen vor allem Rock & Pop der 60er Jahre.
